Important Update!!! Semi-Retirement Reduced Hours Part-time 2022
I have searched and have been unable to find a skilled person who was interested in carrying the business into the future. At 66 I know longer have the health or enthusiasm for the 60 hour weeks.
This is a young person's sport, and I am no longer a young person. It’s time to slow down New Hours Monday-Saturday 9 am to 1 pm
This is my 37th year in Forks Township For many people, this would be a career. However, my career in rental and lawn equipment industry started more than 55 years ago.
What's next
As 2020 started, I was prepared to push through another year without any changes. We even made significant purchases of new rental Equipment. However, my help wanted Ad's went unanswered. Even before the virus restrictions hit my concern was how to operate the business at 1/2 staff? Reducing hours and services was the only alternative. Once the virus hit government benefits completely dried up the employment market. We cut hours because we didn't have the staff to remain fully open.
We will continue to operate through 2022.
The limited hours allow us to provide counter service in the morning and I have quiet time to complete customer repairs and rental equipment maintenance in the afternoon.
FAQ What happens next?
The Business I am not actively marketing the company as a whole because of its complexity. If you are interested, let us talk, however, Forks Township isn't a business-friendly community.
The Property is currently listed. If the property sells I plan on relocating and opening smaller version.
Used Equipment Yes, we are selling off Equipment not needed for the new format. In the past, we have been very successful in selling on E-bay and Craigslist. You can pick up a used equipment list at the store.
The goods and services Leiser's has offered for the last 74 years has always provided opportunities for forever jobs. The summer jobs we offer have given countless dozens of young people the technical skills and work ethic they needed to reach higher career goals. After only a few months of summer employment young hires would learn the skills needed to maintain a house and a car.
Unfortunately, parents and educators have been discouraging young people from pursuing careers in the trades. Parents have so coddled some of these young and middle-aged adults that they don’t have the stamina to work a 40 hour week.
Over the last few years the young hires have heads stuck in phones and no interest in learning new skills.
This has been a fascinating journey. The successes we achieved would not have been possible without the generations of loyal customers and employees that supported Leiser’s for the last 74 years. Rob Leiser |
